Thanjavur Palace Conservation
The Thanjavur Palace Conservation project, commissioned by TSCL (CEC), focuses on the preservation and adaptive reuse of the iconic 410-acre heritage complex in Thanjavur. The initiative aimed to safeguard the palace’s architectural legacy while revitalizing it for contemporary cultural engagement. Conservation works involved meticulous restoration of historic structures, preservation of intricate detailing, and stabilization of age-old materials. Adaptive reuse strategies introduced visitor amenities, exhibition spaces, and interpretive facilities without compromising heritage value. The project emphasized cultural continuity, community participation, and sustainable tourism. Completed in 2018, it stands as a model for large-scale heritage conservation in India.
